The Schernoff Discoveries by Gary Paulsen

I have been so tricked by this book for so long. It was a a case of judging a book by its name with The Schernoff Discoveries by Gary Paulsen. I honestly thought it was like a mystery book or something, and I just wasn't interested. Each and every year for at least 7 years, I have read aloud Harris and Me by Gary Paulsen to my fifth grade class. It is one of my all time favorites. The bad thing is, it is my sister's favorite book as well. Why is that a bad thing? She teaches the same kids, plus some, in seventh grade. Some years she reads it to her class as well, and those kids who have heard it in my class just suffer along.
What does all this have to do with The Schernoff Discoveries? It is a perfect answer to our dilemma! This book is hilarious and PERFECT for seventh grade. I feel like each chapter can be read as its own story. All the stories are about the main characters Harold Schernoff and the narrator whom one can assume is Gary Paulsen. (If you have read any of his autobiographical information these stories ring true to his life.)
Harold and "Gary" are social misfits in high school, or so they think. Harold has many wonderful ideas on how to overcome this problem. "Gary" follows along with most of the ideas but they usually don't turn out exactly as planned.
LOVE THIS BOOK!--- (People are going to start thinking I have never met a book that I don't like, but I just haven't gotten to those books yet. And for second thought, I don't usually continue reading a book I don't like)
